Bodie Island Lighthouse Coupons

It was built in 1872, but is one of the leading North Carolina, which was under construction more than once. It is actually the third Bodie Island Lighthouse was built.

The first, announced in 1848, was very poorly constructed, moreover, to save money! Listen to this, which was built with a base side so weak that it really began to sink!

They learned a lesson from this one because it was built very sturdy.

What happened? Well, the civil war took place, and when the Confederates were forced to retire, yes, they blew it up, just so the Navy can not use it!

Discuss the nature of fretting! What happened in 1861.

Here’s a little trivia for you with some facts of North Carolina.

Bodie Island is said to have been originally called “body”, after the owners of the land, but some of the myths circulating say it was called “Body”, because of the numerous wrecks and the bodies of those who saw in the water. But this is not the only interesting thing about the lights of North Carolina.

Not many people know that a huge flock of geese hit the lens and had to put the screen to protect it from collisions of birds. Or have a spiral staircase that was originally attached to a metal bar that held the flashlight, which acted as lightning rods.

Can you guess what happened?

One of the guards was landing during a storm and the shock was so strong that it is left at the bottom of his body numb!

I know! It’s amazing that still lives! This lighthouse is automated, but because it is in need of renovation, visitors can enter and climb the lighthouse. It is the visitor center where you can buy books and a variety of items to remember your visit.

I heard an interesting story about a guide who really knew much about the Bodie Island Lighthouse. I found it surprising that his father, Vernon Gaskill was lighthouse keeper from 1919 to 1940!

He told stories of his childhood and how, even though her father lived at the lighthouse, her mother and children lived in Wanchese so kids could go to school.

But he lives in a lighthouse during the holidays and the summer. What a great vacation spot!
