Created by children Charleston-based nonprofit Louie, thin Celebrity Softball Challenge South promises to be a fantasy “Field of Dreams days’ stage with a softball game between teams of celebrities, games and activities for children during play and interesting antics during and between games.
Team leaders, the chart-topping singer of the country (and old man Hootie Blowfish CAM), Darius Rucker, and funny man Bill Murray is training celebrities such as Brian McNamara, Wendy Davis, Terry Serpico and Richard Bryant “Army Wives,” “Top Chef” Ariane Duarte, a TV host and Emmy-nominated cookbook author, Chef Marvin Woods, Mark Bryan and Jim Sonefeld of Hootie and the Blowfish, and Bernie Salazar, Heba Salama and Brantley Ed, “The Biggest Loser,” more preparation on a daily basis.
Tickets are $ 25 for grandstand and $ 12 for general admission and can be purchased here. Proceeds from the event benefit the children of Louie and implement programs of Friends of treatment to help overweight and obesity in Charleston and throughout the south.
